A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT ME...
- Even the football field has its stereotypes. Charisma and charm are expected in quarterbacks and running backs. Philanthropy and diplomacy is the domain of the offensive line. But Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall of the Denver Broncos is proof that all of these qualities can exist in one hard hitting wide receiver.
Finishing a remarkable 2008 season and earning a starting spot in his first Pro Bowl with 104 catches, 1,265 receiving yards, 12.2 yards per reception and 6 touchdowns in only fifteen games. Marshall was ranked third in the NFL in receptions and posted the second most receptions in a season in Broncos history. An AFC “Player of the Week,” Marshall had three 100-yard receiving games in 2008 and seven total in his short career. After three impressive seasons, Brandon’s career totals include 226 receptions for 2,899 yards and fifteen touchdowns.
Marshall was selected by Denver in the 4th round of the 2006 NFL draft. The pick paid off for Denver who unknowingly didn’t realize how outstanding he was and he immediately made an impact. Prior to his success with Denver, Marshall was a star student athlete at The University of Central Florida, where he was selected to the All-C-USA Team. Subsequently, Marshall played football at Lake Howell High School in Florida where he played both offense and defense, while earning All State honors and was named Seminole County Utility Player of the Year. He also lettered in basketball and track, winning the class 3A State triple jump championship.
More inspiring than Brandon’s football talent are his accomplishments outside of the NFL. In 2008, Brandon became one of the Broncos’ most community minded players by establishing a relationship with the Rev. Leon Kelly’s “Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives” after-school program in Denver. His weekly visits on Tuesdays throughout the season have given him a chance to reach out to kids in need, provide encouragement and motivation, and help them with homework. He has also treated the children in the program to special outings, including a Broncos’ game, a trip to an amusement park, a holiday shopping trip and a holiday party. Marshall also flew in one of Hollywood’s most successful actors, Will Smith, to come speak to the children. Brandon was recognized as a Denver Broncos Ambassador by the organization for his community efforts in 2008 and was also given the Rising Star Award at the Denver Sports Fan Choice Awards.
Brandon’s off the field activities do not stop with his community service. In the off-season Brandon spends much of his time in Los Angeles, taking in all the city has to offer. With his model-quality looks and his impeccable disposition it’s no wonder that the media is attracted to him. Marshall has been a regular on the set of the NFL Network and has been featured on NFL’s “Total Access” numerous times. He has also visited the set of ESPN and has been featured on Sportscenter, ESPNews and First Take. His face is all over the Denver television circuit and he has done in depth features with KCNC, a CBS affiliate. Brandon has also been featured in some of the most circulated magazines in the country including Sports Illustrated, Sporting News and ESPN the Magazine. He doesn’t miss a Hollywood event and most recently Marshall hit the ESPY’s red carpet and has also attended the BET Awards as well as the MTV Movie Awards. A star on the field and off the field, this football prodigy is taking Hollywood by storm.
In a career encompassing determination, insurmountable talent and amazing good looks, Brandon is definitely headed for a very successful career on or off the field. Be it television or radio, Brandon Marshall is well on his way to becoming a legend.
